- Mar 25, 2018 This was by no means a professional test, I would just note where the detector started alerting. The CR90 and Z-19R actually had very similar range on K band. The CR90 went off first, followed by the Z-19R 1-2 seconds later. The LRD450 was a little slow to alert, and I had a visual of the speed sign before it began to make any noise.
- ALSO AVAILABLE AT The Z19R+ is an awesome value. This high performance, feature packed detector offers not only the verbal alerts like it's sister model the Z-15R+, but the 19R+ also offers a full text display. You can choose either English or Spanish for both the.

Whistler Radar Detector Z-19r+ Manual
General User
After being driven crazy by my XTR-558's false alerts, I decided to purchase a RD from the 'Z' line by Whistler. Figured the TFSR feature in the Z-19R would help with the falsing.
I've only had the Z-19R a few days and haven't had a chance to extensively test it, but so far it's performed well. I borrowed a friend's new CR90, and my brother's Uniden LRD450, and tested all 3 against some K band speed signs on winding roads, as well as a Ka band speed trap.
This was by no means a professional test, I would just note where the detector started alerting.

On the Ka test, driving at 65mph, curve in the road and light rain/fog, the CR90 alerted first 1.6 miles away, followed by the Z-19R just 3 seconds later. The LRD450 alerted at the 0.65 mile mark.
With TFSR enabled, I had no issues with false alerts on the Whistlers. The Uniden had a few falses from Audis, though.
As someone who isn't an avid speeder, I'm happy with my purchase. The Z-19R is a very capable detector in the sub-$100 market.
