Each generation of X1 Carbon has improved over the last. I have a basic spec sample (i5, FHD) of the latest - the 6th Gen (data sheet PDF). Here are some observations about the changes. At last a proper mechanical docking system is coming to the X1 Carbon. The connection will be made from the side.

Connect to power as shown. Ensure that all power cord connectors
are securely and completely plugged into receptacles.

Configure the operating system following the on-screen instructions
to complete the initial setup. This process takes several minutes.

expand the working capability of your computer.
